Becoming a member of the library is easy and free. You don’t even need to be a resident of the region. Members have access to a wide range of library and online services. You can become a member online or in person at your local library. Members receive a membership number and card that provides access to all services. When applying, please provide an ID with your current residential address.
Conditions of Membership
Membership at Gympie Regional Libraries is free and open to all residents and visitors, with personal identification and proof of current residential address. You can join online or by visiting one of our six libraries. Your library card gives you access to all library resources including online collections as well as free access to Wi-Fi and Internet PCs.
By becoming a member, you:
- Agree that to borrow items or use library computers, you must present your library membership card, know your membership number or provide proof of identification
- Agree to abide by the Conditions of Entry, requiring you to respect other visitors and comply with staff directions
- Understand that It is your responsibility to ensure that all items borrowed on your membership are returned by the due date and are not damaged
- Accept charges incurred from lost or damaged items
- Accept responsibility for the behaviour, choice of material and Internet use, and fees or charges incurred by junior members (under 16 years) by registering as their parent/guardian
- Will inform the library of any changes to your contact details
- Will abide by Gympie Regional Libraries Digital Library Resources – Conditions of Use which state that it is inappropriate to view offensive material in a public space
- Will abide by Copyright Laws when accessing Library materials
As a member, you can:
- Borrow up to 30 items for a three-week period
- Reserve up to 40 items and five active requests
- Borrow and return items to any branch library located at Gympie, Tin Can Bay, Rainbow Beach, Imbil, Kilkivan and Goomeri
- Renew and reserve items online (or at any branch) – items on loan to you that can be renewed will renew automatically for two loan periods
- Access e-Books, e-Audio books, e-Magazines and online music
- Book computers and events online
Gympie Regional Council collects personal information where it is directly related to a function or activity of Council and where the collection of such information may be reasonably considered as necessary for that purpose. It will only use personal information for that purpose, and will not disclose it, except as permitted under the Information Privacy Act 2009.
