Published on 27 November 2025
Gympie Regional Council advises that the Gympie Library will reopen its doors on Monday, 15 December at 9am, following the completion of essential reroofing and air conditioning replacement works.
The Gympie Pop-Up Library at the Pavilion Conference and Reception Centre will close its doors on Wednesday, 10 December at 5 pm, to allow staff time to move resources back to the main facility ahead of the reopening.
Gympie Regional Council Mayor, Glen Hartwig said it was great to see the much-loved community facility welcoming visitors again.
“The reroofing and air conditioning replacement were important investments to protect the building, improve comfort, and ensure our library continues to provide a safe and welcoming space for all,” Cr. Hartwig said.
“I’d like to thank the community for their patience during the closure, and for continuing to make use of the pop-up library at the Pavilion, your support has been greatly appreciated.
“A big thank you also goes to our incredible library staff, who continue to deliver a five-star service for residents, no matter the location. Their dedication ensured our community could keep reading, learning and connecting throughout the works.”
Member for Gympie, Tony Perrett MP, said the completion of the Gympie Library upgrades, delivered through the Queensland Government’s Works for Queensland Program, was another practical investment in maintaining safe and accessible community spaces.
“These works have helped ensure the Gympie Library remains a comfortable, functional, and welcoming place for residents of all ages,” Mr Perrett said.
“By keeping community facilities like the Gympie Library in great condition, the Crisafulli Government, in partnership with Gympie Regional Council, is supporting the local services and community spirit that help make the Gympie region such a great place to live.”
The essential works under the Priority Building Asset Renewals Program – Gympie Central Business District, proudly funded by the Queensland Government’s Works for Queensland Program, restored much-loved community spaces, including the Gold City Stage, keeping them in great condition and ready for performances, gatherings, and community events.
